General Mocktail Tips
- Use bubbly mixers. Soda water, tonic water, and even ginger ale or ginger beer are great for adding texture to your mocktails with carbonated bubbles.
- Try fancy simple syrups. Layering flavors helps mocktail recipes taste interesting instead of one‑note. See the next page for more information about simple syrups.
- Load up on fancy garnishes. It’s all about presentation! Cocktail‑style drinks look beautiful—use cherries, citrus wedges, or fresh herbs depending on the drink.
How to Make Simple Syrup
- Simple syrups are useful for making mocktails, but can also be used for other flavored drinks like coffee.
- Use equal parts water and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- If desired, add flavorings such as fresh mint leaves, fresh lavender, cinnamon sticks, or other extracts.
- Remove from heat, let cool, and then strain (if you have added herbs).
- Refrigerate for up to one month.
